Hardwood

Hardwood flooring dates back to 1600s French Baroque area. Early American colonization used thick, wide wooden planks cut from old, over grown trees in the area for their homes. Hardwood flooring became more popular during the end of the 1700s. During this time, wooden floors were more of a labor intensive job due to being fully hand-crafted. Preparing for Installation

  • Make sure installation area is clear of any furniture and/or breakable items. 

Installation

  • Make sure someone is home the day of installation in case your installers have any questions.
  • Make sure that the material being installed is what you purchased.
    • Insure that color and style is correct.
  • Please keep children and pets out of the installation area for their own safety.
  • Do a walk through before installation is complete to have any questions you may have answered.
    • Remember installation process can vary depending on the type of carpet you choose. 
  • The installer will clean the area once installation is complete.

Maintenance

  • Use a soft bristle broom to prevent scratches.
    • If you prefer to use a vacuum, make sure that you have a soft floor attachment
    • Be sure to use cleaning products specifically for wood floors to keep your floors looking new.
  • Placemats at the entrances of your home can prevent dirt and other debris from entering your home. 
    • The dirt can act like sandpaper against your floors that can lead to unwanted scratches.
  • Felt protectors can be your best friend in protecting your floors against your furniture.
    • Be sure to replace them whenever they get worn out!
    • When moving your furniture, remember to lift and not drag. While the felt protectors can be helpful, if there's dirt trapped in them, you'll be facing a lot of unwanted scratches on your floor.
